Southern Living Magazine chose Cherry Laurel Model Home for Photo Shoot
You may have noticed that our Designer Showcase Cherry Laurel model home was closed for a few days last week. Or maybe not, because the Southern Living photographers stealthy moved furniture and products in and back out of the model home undetected, putting everything back in its place.
Southern Living Magazine chose two locations in Mt Laurel, the Cherry Laurel Designer Showcase Model Home and a Live/Work Unit in the Town Center, to photograph their 2015 fall product line with Dillard’s department store.
“Mt. Laurel was the perfect location for this shoot,” said Katy South, Marketing and Licensing Coordinator for Southern Living Magazine. “The model home was a great location because of the open kitchen and modern bathrooms that allowed us to get a variety of shots that really give you a “homey” feel. We also loved the outdoor spaces of the model home that includes rock walls and painted brick for fabulous outdoor shots.”
The Live/Work unit in the Town Center was a blank canvas with great lighting. “We have a line of furniture with Dillard’s that includes: sofas, chairs, dining tables, and bedroom sets so we needed a space that we could turn into our very own ‘home’ using our products.”
The photographs shot in Mt Laurel will be used in a Dillard’s Fall E-Catalog and in advertisements in Southern Living Magazine. The photos featured Southern Living’s bakeware, cookware, tabletop, dinnerware, towels, bath mats, outdoor décor and more. “We have a good mix of traditional and modern products that speak to all ages of customers,” said South. “The model home matched just that.”
South managed and coordinated the planning, production and completion of the shoot. “So much planning goes into a photo shoot like this! Dillard’s will send us the product we need to shoot and I am in charge of keeping track of all of it and making sure each piece of product makes it into the shot list. I then coordinate with photographers and stylists and scout a location to get ready for the shoot. Once the shoot is finished, the product has to be shipped back to Dillard’s. Our team usually involves a photographer, stylist, our Creative Director, myself and one of our interns, but we always try to recruit as many helping hands as possible since there is so much to do!”
