Sunset Wine and Cheese Hike

Celebrate Spring with a Sunset Wine & Cheese Hike

Join the hike on Thursday, March 23rd 2017
Meet at 5:30 p.m. | Hike begins by 6:00 p.m.

After a successful Fall Sunset Wine and Cheese Hike, Mt Laurel and Coosa Riverkeeper have joined together to celebrate the spring equinox with another Sunset Wine and Cheese Hike. Join us for a unique hike around Mt Laurel’s Lake Trails. This social hike will be led by Rip Weaver, Mt Laurel’s founding Landscape Architect and Executive Director of Aldridge Gardens. Rip will discuss the native landscape as you hike the trail around Mt Laurel’s private Spoonwood Mountain Lake.

During this hike, we will take a different trail and see the spillway on Spoonwood Mountain Lake’s dam. This area is often beautifully filled with spring flowers, including our namesake, Mountain Laurel. While a moderately easy hike, please be prepared for elevation changes.

After the hike, guests will experience the sunset lake views as you dine on wine, craft beer, local cheeses, and hors d’oeuvres from several restaurants. While you enjoy your vino, Justinn Overton, Executive Director of the Coosa Riverkeeper, will discuss the organization’s mission to protect the Coosa River and its tributaries.

Reservations are required and space is limited so please purchase your tickets early. We will gather at the lake picnic area at 5:30 p.m. for socializing and the hike will begin at 6 p.m. Spoonwood Mountain Lake is Mt Laurel’s private lake, if you are not a Mt Laurel resident, please follow Mt Laurel Avenue starting from the Town Center to the lake entrance. There will be signs and parking volunteers to guide you.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Coosa Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, restore, and promote the Coosa River and its tributaries in Alabama.
